LB/FB Remote I/O Integrated in HIMA System

HIMA´s safety-related HIMatrix controllers offer SIL 3 safe logic and can also handle non safety-related modules including the required programs. HIMA and Pepperl+Fuchs have integrated the LB/FB Remote I/O into the HIMatrix environment using Modbus.

Modbus is one of the most simple and efficient methods to integrate modules from different manufacturers. Pepperl+Fuchs also offers the traditional RS485 hardware bus plus an Ethernet connection via Modbus TCP.

Integrating intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe Pepperl+Fuchs Remote-I/O modules is the ideal system extension for non safety-related applications in:

• Ex-Zone 2 (LB Series)
• Ex-Zone 1 (FB Series)

The Remote I/O is configured using a standard tool with an export function which allows direct acceptance into the HIMatrix ELOPII engineering environment without any extra effort.

Each HIMatrix controller with its Modbus RS485 master can be connected to a maximum of 120 Pepperl+Fuchs Remote-I/Os. In turn, each Remote I/O station can handle 80 analog or 184 digital signals or a combination of analog and digital signals.

Selected LB/FB output modules are available with a bus independent SIL2 (Safety Integrity Level) safety shut-down. Of course, it is still possible to communicate with field devices from a central location using HART via PACTware or other FDT/DTM software.
